About Seymour Marine Discovery Center
The Seymour Marine Discovery Center is associated and supported by the University of California, Santa Cruz, and the local community. There is an exciting world of exhibits and activities inside the center. The exhibit hall takes you to the backroom where scientists decipher the unknowns of the sea. The aquarium takes you close to marine wonders of the Monterey Bay. Take a behind the scenes tours of the labs. The Marine Discovery Center also has an exhibit called Outdoor Giants, which is home to Ms. Blue, the largest Blue Whale skeleton in the world. There is also a tide pool where you can roll up your sleeves and interact with sea creatures. It is closed on Mondays. During the rest of the week, The Center opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. It is closed on certain holidays such as New Year’s Day, Christmas, Independence Day, Easter Sunday and Thanksgiving. Admission to the Seymour Marine Discovery Center is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors aged sixty-five and older, students with ID pay $6 too and so do children aged three to sixteen. Toddlers or kids younger than two get free admission. Members and undergraduates of the University of California, Santa Cruz, also get free admission. There are certain days when no admission is charged. The days through 2018 are January 18, February 15, September 20, October 18, November 13 and December 4. Parking is complimentary for the first three hours with every paid admission.
